First Verse: Suave-Ski
Second Verse: Jus Cuz
Third Verse: Apathy
“Make your troubles go away, go away”
First off, this song would’ve been just fine without the features (Apathy produced it himself, after all). They were good, but I wasn’t a big fan of Suave-Ski. It would’ve been cool to see Ryu (of Demigodz and Styles of Beyond) on the track instead of just appear in the video, but it is what it is. It was still a dope beat and the hook is flawless (unlike some of Apathy’s other songs), so all around a solid effort. I just wish i didn’t have to wait 3 minutes to hear Apathy.
Complaints aside, the beat is amazing, and Ap’s verse is great. I might just be biased as an Apathy fan, because the lyrics were indeed solid all around. It might even be that their deliveries were too similar to Apathy and not different enough for me, as if they were holding back.
“How To Breathe Underwater” is the first release from Connecticut rapper Apathy’s forthcoming EP Weekend at the Cape on Dirty Version Records. In addition to solo work, he regularly appears and collaborates with fellow underground hip-hop artists including Ryu, Celph Titled, 7L & Esoteric, as well as the hip-hop groups Army of the Pharaohs, Jedi Mind Tricks and the Demigodz.
